How did you come up with Finding My Way Books?
We wanted to create books to share the wonderful stories, happening everyday, that show families ‘finding their way’ as they include their child with special needs within their home and community.

What is self-determination?
Self-determination includes skills such as self-awareness, self-esteem, choice-making, engagement, decision-making, problem solving and the ability to set and attain goals. Every child needs these skills to become a happy, successful adult.

Can I submit my child’s story to you to be in one of your books?
We would love to hear from you and would be honored to hear your child’s story. We want to create a diverse collection of books so that all children feel included and their voices can be heard. We will always respond to your email and let you know if your child’s story fits into our publication plan. You can 'Contact Us'  or email us at findingmywaybooks@gmail.com.

What age group are your books written for?
All our books have been leveled by an educational consultant.  The Graded Reading Level (GRL) and Grade Interest Level are listed on the back cover of each book. Our books are in the Pre-K-2 or 3 grade level of interest and range from GRl B-K. We have designed our books with color and photographs to enhance the understanding and enjoyment of the story when read by children or young adults with intellectual disabilities.

Where can I buy your books?

You can 'Contact Us' or email findingmywaybooks@gmail.com to order directly from us.  We offer a large size order discount. Also, our books are available at amazon.com and barnesandnoble.com. Mackin Educational Resources is a national distributor of our books. A bookstore can purchase books through Ingram Books.

Do you have teaching materials related to your books available? Lesson plans?
Yes, we have developed lesson plans and Discussions Starters & Classroom Activities to go with each picture book.  They can be downloaded here on our website. In addition teachers can contact Jo through the Skype In The Classroom program.  She welcomes requests for author visits and has posted several lesson plan options for those visits.
